Instituto Universitario Chac Mool (UCM) is a higher education institution fully accredited by the Mexican Ministry of Education (SEP). At UCM, we foster professional learning in a dynamic, interactive and supportive environment offering our students an opportunity to pursue unlimited horizons. At UCM we offer students a pleasant, low-anxiety atmosphere in which to study, and unique, personalized service and attention. We are dedicated to providing students positive and rewarding experience.

UCM began as a summer program in 1996 as an institute for doctors, lawyers, nurses, college students, high school students, bilingual teachers and administrators, businessmen & women, secretaries, fire fighters and entire families interested in an unforgettable immersion program for learning Spanish in Mexico. Due to the school’s success, in the year 2001 UCM began offering classes year round.

A staff of highly skilled, experienced and dedicated people helps ensure that UCM remains a quality institution where education is the main focus, and as a result of this vision and focus, UCM has evolved into a Higher Education Institution offering, in addition to our immersion programs, graduate, undergraduate and non graduate courses.

Our Mission is to provide a humanistic enrichment to our students thereby offering them a well-rounded development through:

-The acquisition of necessary knowledge to better understand diverse cultures of the world and promote positive changes with communities.

-Responsible and ethical conduct on both a personal and professional level.

Our Vision is to become a solid organization on a global scale with a humanist cosmo vision which promotes global dialogue, interaction and community building among our world’s cultures, helping us to have a better understanding of different cultures and people.

This is possible in UCM thanks to the integration of a flexible system of educational modalities that is distinguished by its academy excellence and high quality of customer service.

The Department of Modern Languages at Instituto Universitario Chac Mool offers a variety of courses in English or Spanish to students wishing to learn not only language but literature, as well as culture. Degree programs are also offered at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Department of Modern Languages contributes to the mission of Instituto Universitario Chac Mool by enabling students to develop basic competencies and defined proficiency levels by helping students to prepare for the world of work by means of specialized courses and degree options, and by providing students with the tools for understanding and evaluating the diversity of human culture as represented in a number of the world’s languages and literatures.

Learning other languages is an important part of Liberal Arts education. Language, as an essential key to understanding other cultures, is an important element in the world today. Those students who study a foreign language also have an important tool making them more marketable. Acquiring another language leads people to break down not only language but cultural barriers, thereby facilitating business transactions with people from other countries.
